Stand Up Paddleboarding in Scotland is the ultimate way to experience the countries majestic waters. In and around Dunkeld you will find a huge variety of places to explore, whatever your level.

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is the world's fastest growing watersport, a cross between surfing and canoeing. Standing on a large surfboard and using a large paddle to propel yourself forwards, you can go on rivers, lochs, in the surf and on the coast, even Yoga. Fairly easy to pick up the basics, you will soon be wanting to explore Scotland's nooks and crannies.

Dunkeld has some amazing places to explore on a SUP.

River Tay - Scotland's longest river flows through the village with incredible views and even some rapids. On a guided trip or as an experienced paddler, it is an unbelievable journey with ever changing scenery.

Clunie Loch - Sheltered and jam packed with lovely views, this quiet loch has it all. To top it off, paddle out to Clunie Island to explore its ruined castle!.

Loch Freuchie - A wonderful, large Highland Loch, Freuchie offers miles and miles of water to get out on. You get a huge feeling of being completely away from it all. It has a secret too, the River Quaich gently flows into it, offering about 2 miles of serene, sheltered paddling up and down it.

On Dunkeld's doorstep is a huge variety of locations to visit by SUP, such as touring rivers such as the Isla or Earn, Highland lochs such as Loch's Tay, Tummel, Faskally and Earn or trips to the coast.

HOW TO DO IT:

Paddle Surf Scotland offers Lessons and Board Hire in Stand Up Paddleboarding. Their experienced instructors teach on local lochs, and lead guided trips down the Tay and other rivers. Hire boards are available if you want to do it yourself on their inflatable, transportable SUPs .Regular social events and SUP Yoga classes complete the mix.

They offer lessons for £40pp including all equipment and clothing. Their weekly schedule offers Loch Freuchie and Clunie sessions. Evening River SUP/River Surf sessions at Stanley. Regular summer SUP Yoga sessions at Clunie Loch.

Inflatable SUP Hire including delivery is £35 per board per day, including all equipment and clothing.
