Got a head for heights?, then its time to put on your harness, rope up and hit the crag.
Dunkeld is surrounded by lots of fantastic climbing crags for all grades and abilities. Lots of different Climbing disciplines are possible in and around Dunkeld; Trad (placing your own safety gear), Sport (using bolts already in the rock), Drytooling (like Ice Climbing but in a quarry) and Bouldering (climbing on low level routes while not using ropes).
WHERE TO GO:
Creag a Barns and Polney Crag - A classic spot with spectacular views and a huge mixture of single and multi pitch viewroutes of all grades. There are some Sport routes at the western end of Polney crag too.
Cave Crag - Challenging bolted Sport routes are to be enjoyed at this quiet area near to Creag a Barns.
Newtyle Quarry - A mecca for the sport of Drytooling, this quarry has an amazing cave to practice your axe work in. You will also find Sport climbing and a great cliff for Abseiling.
Creag Na Eighe - Spectacular views across the Tay Valley from this crag with plenty of Trad routes to play on. A great big Rock boulder is awesome fun for a spot of Bouldering too.
